Paul Cashin Architects | Contemporary Chartered Architects in Winchester, Hampshire / News

Paul Cashin Architects 'PCA' is a creative RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Chartered Architecture practice based in Winchester, Hampshire. PCA takes a design-led approach to the practise of contemporary architecture, believing that well thought and considered design is essential to the creation of successful architectural space.

The practice undertakes contemporary architectural design projects across residential, commercial and civic sectors of the construction industry. Currently having a number of live projects across Winchester, Hampshire and the South Coast including one-off new build houses, extensions and commercial business projects.

As a small practice, our strength lies in our inclusive and personal approach, working directly with clients, consultants, and contractors, encouraging the cross over between architecture and other areas of art and design.

We are in a consistent state of process, working through a range of media including physical and computer models, hand and computer drawings, sketching and conceptual diagrams, discussions and presentations.

Paul Cashin Architects Practice Visits in Kings Cross, London and Lymington, New Forest, Hampshire

Mentor / Mentee

Paul Cashin Architects is always looking to improve its design work and delivery of service to clients, consultants, and contractors.  As such the studio has recently visited other practices that share a similar view towards architectural ideas and values.  We were made very welcome to experience the practices of PAD Studio and Simon Astridge, and would like to thank each of them for their insight and time.

In mid October we visited Simon Astridge Architectural Workshop in London.  Simon’s ethos involves the experiential realm of contemporary architecture, and how this drives his refurbishment and domestic projects in the city of London.  We were fortunate enough to spend an entire day with Simon and his team, witness client meetings, and finish with a drinks evening at Kitchen Architecture in Barnes.

Then in early November we visited PAD Studio in Lymington, the New Forest, Hampshire.  As winners of the RIBA Emerging Architects of the Year 2014, PAD Studio concentrate on the qualitative elements of modern and contemporary architecture when designing homes and civic projects - they have an excellent ‘Manifesto’ section to their website.  We spent a few hours with Wendy and Darren in the Hampshire office, discussing how they work and going through their design processes.  It was great to meet the PAD team, Otto the dog, and to see their new offices in Lymington as well as some brilliant sketches and models.

Now as Christmas approaches, Paul Cashin Architects will partake in the annual RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Student Mentoring program.  This will be the fourth year that Paul has mentored architecture students from the University of Portsmouth, of which Paul is Alumni.  The aim of the RIBA scheme is to bridge together undergraduate students and local practitioners of architecture from around Hampshire and the south coast, aiding practical experience and possible employment opportunities over the coming months.
